week du jour turned 10 today!
Hey Dan,
You ever been to Lodge Bread Co. in Culver? It’s like West Culver, Mar Vista, whatever you wanna call it. I like to think this one goes out to Anthony Bourdain who seemed to like cured fish and this heap of cured salmon did a body good. The shakshuka was also nice but I couldn’t get through all of it, also on the spicy side so watch out if you’re still not into spicy stuff.
For a moment, or a second, the pinched expressions of the cynical, world-weary, throat-cutting, miserable bastards we’ve all had to become disappears, when we’re confronted with something as simple as a plate of food.

so long Tony, you will be missed

Hey Dan, you mentioned you had family from Italy. Here’s a deli in Rome, right outside the Pantheon. They were some tasty meats, my dude. Molto delicioso. Have you been to Italy?
Hey Dan, here’s a big bowl of pho to warm you up this winter. Hope spring is just around the corner! Climate change is real
It was good seeing you, man
Hey Dan, that place Gus’ just opened up a new location in Burbank, so I figured I’d check it out. Man, what a great piece of fried chicken. I think you would really enjoy it. Sorry about your gloves, dude. Hey so I went camping with Travis recently, he says hey. Man it’s crazy he’s getting married soon. I guess they always were good together.
Hey Dan, you’re Italian right? Eataly is right up your alley. I thiiiink they have one out in Chi town? If not, there’s one in NY if you’re going for Christmas. Pizza, pasta, pesce. You name it.
Hey Dan, hope you’re staying warm in the cold white North. Remember Native Foods? Well they closed, and two new shops opened in their old space. Primal Kitchen is one of them, and they have a half decent short rib morning scramble. This egg is for you, buddy.
